lear, dear friends, and an axiom
When I was but a nub, my father read me the poems of Edward Lear from a book he'd rescued from the discard bin at the local library. Lovely nonsense all, but the greater meaning behind my favorite, The Quangle Wangle's Hat, just came clear to me this morning over a cup of unseasonable (but terribly tasty) hot chocolate.
It clarifies the reason I cherish weekend brunches, occasional mass-office lunch deliveries, and weeknight pub dinners, knowing full well my own cooking is, (and I'm estimating conservatively here), fully ten times better.
Lear tours us down a winding road back the very simple thing my dear friend Brian has always said: Everything tastes better when it's shared with good friends.

Love Brian's quote and love Edward Lear. "The Owl & the Pussycat" says a lot about the simplicity of love & marriage. Sometimes it really IS that easy. But hey, I've only been married a year so what do I know? = )
